The 2020 Robusto is a 100% estate-grown Merlot from Celani Family Vineyards, a small, family-owned producer in Napa Valley crafting approximately 4,000 cases annually. Winemaker Mark Herold has created a wine that stains the glass with inky red and black hues. Its fragrant, complex aromatics immediately impress, showcasing vibrant, mineral-driven notes of ripe cherries, cranberries, plums, raspberries, red currants, pomegranate, and graphite, complemented by hints of new suede leather, licorice, and orange peel. Dazzling flavors of bright red and purple fruits offer great weight and balance, while seamlessly integrated tannins contribute to an amazing mouthfeel and a long, echoing finish. This Robusto, delicious now, promises to age gracefully for 10+ years.
Celani's limited production wines include estate-grown Merlot, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from select vineyards in Coombsville and Mount Veeder.
